Assignments from various book publishers and travel companies have allowed him to travel extensively and also pursue his passion for landscape and seascape photography. Up to 4 years ago he shot images exclusively on film but is now converted to the digital medium. Alan couples this with digital photo manipulation software for greater creativity and personal expression. The degree of manipulation applied to his photographs varies according to the subject matter but with most he has created an artistic crossover effect. This has been achieved in Photoshop by applying a combination of up to 5 customised filtration effects and often using up 20 separate images in the production of a beach hut panorama. This is further enhanced by professional printing of his images onto fine art archival canvas or textured paper via the Giclée process. This technique uses colour pigments instead of dyes for print longevity as recognised by the Fine Art Guild.
