Janie Pirie

Janie Pirie Janie was painting pictures of her father’s garden at the age of four and her passion for painting has continued to this day. She studied at Northampton School of Art and also at Colchester School of Art where she specialised in illustration. Watercolour and coloured pencils are her favourite media although she does work in acrylics now and again - depending on the subject.

Unlike many artists Janie doesn't paint just one type of subject. She likes variation in her work and will paint anything that takes her fancy – although she tends to steer away from anything architectural. Her favourite subjects are flowers and still life studies with a good sprinkling of children for added interest! She also takes commissions for pet portraits – she love cats and dogs – and was also commissioned to paint an eight week old baby elephant born at Colchester Zoo in 2004.
