Ken KempleyKen was born in Matlock, Derbyshire, but spent the early part of his life in London. After a short period of working as a Commercial Artist in Fleet Street London, Ken entered the business world of Commerce, although he continued to maintain his interest and links in Art by painting and Exhibiting throughout the South of England. Having moved to North East Essex, Ken now works as a full time Artist with the majority of his work coming from commissions, gallery and corporate clients. Ken's style, technique and pallet have evolved over many years with his inspiration and influences coming from his love of big dramatic East Anglian skies and the rugged barren beauty and atmosphere of mountains, moor and wetlands. In fact some of his work has been described as "Landscapes with Attitude". Ken's work reflects his love of clean stylish lines and a limited pallet, his colour combinations, use of texture and relief effects illustrate and typify his minimalist "Less is More" approach. Ken's work is much sought after and can be found in private collections in the UK, Holland, Israel and the U.S.A. Ken's "Less is More" style of painting has caused him to explore the drama and emotion that a minimalist painting can offer. An attempt to capture elements of light, atmosphere, climate, colour and texture,by providing the viewer with the feeling of "Being There".To experience those moments of magic of rain and mist on your face or perhaps capture the sound of silence that tranquility and space can create, in both his figurative and abstract works.
