Martin Allen
Martin has never had any formal art training, upon leaving school he took up sign writing, design work and went on to designing one-off T-shirts. After that Martin started painting landscapes and portraits of famous people, then Martin got a commission to paint a Dolphin in 1994. It was then he found out this was the subject for him. Martin had finally found the subject that he really enjoyed and one that he got a positive response from and in 2000 Martin had his first wild encounter with Dolphins off the coast of Gran Canaria. Since then dolphins, whales and marine wildlife are the only subject that he paints. Martin has exhibited his work all over the UK and has his work on display in many local Galleries. He has had numerous one man shows at libraries and theatres in the Essex area and has won several awards for his dolphin paintings. Recently Martin has started giving demonstrations to local art clubs where he talks about dolphins and demonstrate's his painting technique. Martin's website has given him the opportunity to sell his paintings worldwide - as far away as Singapore and Malaysia. His work has been published in magazines around the UK and two of his paintings were used as front covers on The Animal World magazine in Memphis, Tennessee.
