Nicola Duffy

I was born in Scotland and continue to live there. I have been interested in photography from a very young age, being given my first camera when I was seven.

After graduating from university with an Honours degree in Economics I went on to work in the financial services sector for a number of years. However, during this period I began to develop my interest in photography further and in 2005 my love for photography was truly rekindled when I went on safari in Africa - you can find some of my photos from that region in the Wildlife & Nature section.

Most of my images however are taken in my native Scotland. As a child I didn't holiday abroad, instead my parents and grandparent's tended to take me 'up north'. Even then, I couldn't help but be inspired as we passed through the Trossachs, Glen Coe and Fort William on our way further into the highlands and islands.

Scotland's rich history and beautiful mountains and lochs make it a photographer's paradise and groups such as Scottish National Heritage and the National Trust for Scotland do a wonderful job in preserving some of our oldest castles, monuments and gardens - to the SNH and NTS I am truly grateful.
