Sue Rowe

For as far back as I remember I have had a great love of art and nature. As a child growing up in a small village just outside Colchester I spent hours drawing animals, particularly horses. So it was a natural progression to go from school to an Art and Design Foundation course at Colchester Institute. I specialised in textiles and went on to do a Bsc[hons] in Textile Design and Technology at Huddersfield University. After graduating I worked for many years as a CAD designer for Sudbury Silk Mills in Suffolk, producing designs for silk ties and furnishings for designers such as Ralph Lauren and Vivien Westwood. This didn't totally fulfill my creativity, so in my spare time I began painting watercolours. Since then I have exhibited paintings at the Quay Theatre in Sudbury, The Naze Tower at Walton and three of the Tendering Libraries.

My love of drawing animals hasn't diminished as I also take commisions for pet portraits. I feel lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country that offers constant inspiration to any artist.
