Sending Originals to UsThis tutorial is broken up into 2 parts, the first is how to safely package your art work to it is guaranteed not to get damaged in transit. The second part will hopefully make the decision on what postal service to use easier. PackagingStretched Canvas: There are 2 options when sending a painting on a stretched canvas, the first is to remove the canvas from the stretcher bars (we can restretch it for you before we send your work back) and roll the canvas up with tissue paper for protection and place in a suitable cardboard tube. However, if you do not want to remove the picture from the canvas, then sandwich the canvas within 2 pieces of rigid board. Watercolour's, Pastels and Drawings: For smaller pieces of artwork (under A3), then it is advised to place the artwork in between 2 pieces of rigid card and place in an appropriately sized envelope - a padded envelope would be preferable. For larger pieces of work, and depending on the thickness of the paper - then rolling up the artwork and placing it in a tube cushioned with tissue paper for safety is a lot easier than placing the work within 2 pieces of rigid board, but if the work isn't suitable for rolling up then this is your only option. For very large work you may prefer to use a courier instead of royal mail as they will be used to dealing with larger packages - they also offer a tracking service which will allow you to trace your package all the way to our studio.
